September 11, 2001

Like well-trained soldiers standing tall,
And gleaming in the sun,
Not knowing that their hard-core strength,
Was soon to be undone.

With three swift swoops, the shadows fell,
With hatred then fulfilled.
And for a moment, hearts of all,
Were in their tight chests stilled.

Then screams of millions, rolled in one,
Tore through the ash-filled air.
With terror haunting every breath,
And lurking near: death’s lair.

What did they hope to satisfy?
What morbid point to score?
What twisted trick that carried death
To this, our Nation’s, shore?

They thought they’d bring us to our knees,
Our confidence they’d shake.
They thought they’d deal a blow that our
Great country couldn’t take.

But by the strength of God above,
Supported by His hand,
Though towers, lives, and spirits fell,
America will stand!
